Mush and Go: Dogsled Races Return to Mormon Lake Lodge after Long Hiatus
MORMON LAKE, Ariz. -- One thing most don’t expect to see in Arizona is snow. But the truth is that Northern Arizona is a winter wonderland. So much so that for the first time since the 50s, dogsled races are back at the Mormon Lake Lodge. On January 23-24 2010, mushers from all over the country will converge on the piney woods that cover much of the area between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Featuring more than 60 teams competing for prize money, the races are a popular part of Flagstaff Winterfest. Last year, more than 800 spectators watched the teams compete in the races held in the basin of Mormon Lake. Stay and play at Mormon Lake Lodge to take full advantage of the sights.
