Stories to Life Series – Traveling the Cowboy Trail-100 Years of Arizona Tales

Today
Coconino Center for the Arts
Flagstaff

In collaboration with Flagstaff Cultural Partners and the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, Flagstaff City- Coconino County Public Library proudly presents the final event in the 2011-2012 Stories to Life series, Traveling the Cowboy Trail-100 Years of Arizona Tales, Sunday, February 12 at 4:00pm. This free Stories to Life program features the music and story-telling of Viola Award recipient Tony Norris, along with his cowboy friends, Warren Miller and Gail Steiger. The event is held in the intimate indoor amphitheater at the Coconino Center for the Arts.

Norris says, "It's a rare opportunity for me to share the stage with two entertainers of Warren and Gail's stature. Warren is a nationally recognized authority on the music, poetry, and culture of the cowboy. He plays anything with strings but he is at his best playing the guitar and singing the old ballads. Gail Steiger has traveled the world making documentary films about horse cultures. He's an engaging songwriter who writes about a lifestyle he knows intimately. They are a delight to work with."

Norris isn’t the only one excited about this Centennial event. Judy Finney, reference librarian and Stories to Life project manager says, "We’re really excited to again be working with an entertainer the caliber of Tony Norris. We had standing room only for the show he participated in back in our first season in 2008. The audience laughed until they cried!  It's going to be really great to have Tony and his friends regaling us with tales, cowboy poetry, and music about Arizona.  It's a perfect way to celebrate the centennial"

This event is free and open to the public. It is a first-come-first-serve event. Previous Stories to Life events have filled to standing-room-only capacity, with some people being turned away. So it is recommended that people come early.

Funding for this season’s Stories to Life is generously provided by the Friends of the Library. For more information about the series, please contact Flagstaff Cultural Partners at (928) 779-2300 or visit culturalpartners.org/storiestolife.htm.
