Strictly Diesel and ITP Diesel Present the Desert Diesel Nationals
High performance diesel cars and trucks will take center stage March 6, 2010 during the Desert Diesel Nationals at the Speedworld Dragstrip in Wittman, Ariz. Presented by Scottsdale-based Strictly Diesel and ITP Diesel, the Desert Diesel Nationals is a family friendly, action packed day that attracts diesel enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada. Last year’s competition drew an audience of more than 1,000 people, and more than 60 competitors.
As a major sponsor of the event, Strictly Diesel will be giving away 100 tickets to the event. Tickets must be picked up in person at Strictly Diesel, in the Scottsdale Airpark at 7333 E. Butherus Dr., Ste. A-100.
Coordinated by the National Hotrod Diesel Association (NHRDA), the Desert Diesel Nationals features diesel powered drag racing, a burnout contest, show ‘n shine, and a dyno competition. A crowd favorite, during the burnout contest competitors get 20 seconds to do the biggest, most impressive burnout they can, creating a cloud of smoke and cheers. In the Show ‘n Shine contest, the best looking car or truck takes the win, while the dyno competition awards winners strictly based on torque and horsepower. For each competition, a panel of judges, plus combined audience response will determine the winners. Competitors can walk away with $10,000 in prize money, while spectators can enter to win raffle prizes valued at $5,000.
The Desert Diesel Nationals is being held at the Speedworld Dragstrip, 19421 W. Jomax Rd., Wittmann, Ariz. 85361 (9 miles north of Bell Road, off of Grand Avenue/Highway 60). The gates open at 9 a.m. and qualifying rounds being at 11 a.m. with final eliminations at 1:30 p.m. Admission for kids under 12 is free, and adult tickets are $10 or $5 per person for military personnel.
