Chandler’s best hotel and resort rates are available in summer, and with fewer crowds, you’ll have plenty of space to chill with your family and see Arizona’s sights.

Chandler has a host of cool things to do all summer long. Bring the family and choose a little retail therapy, enjoy some pool time, have a culinary adventure or do a little of everything.

Cool, Playful Chandler

With energy to burn, kids are always looking for something fun, exciting and interactive on vacation. And Chandler has the family-fun centers to keep them busy.

They can also find four distinct play areas at Makutu’s Island family center, where a 25-foot “oak tree” is surrounded by the Pirates Cove, Palm Slide and Blue Fantasy Tree.

Remember winter? You might just welcome it this time of year, but you also don’t want to shovel any sidewalks or scrape any car windows.

Enjoy the fun of winter without winter-chore drudgery at Polar Ice Chandler, an indoor skating rink. You’ll really  escape the heat, and kids will get a cool, wintery treat on a sunny summer day. Simply check for open-skate times scheduled throughout the week, lace up your skates, then take a glide on the ice!

You can also make a splash this summer with outdoor fun.

Hamilton AC fun1rev.jpgAt any of Chandler’s water parks, the kids – and mom and dad – can splash and play in the parks’ water slides, as well as on a current river and water vortex. Thoughtfully positioned shade structures offer sun protection, too.

There’s plenty of aquatic fun for everyone. The water parks are open daily, and admission prices start at only $1.

After the pool, why not try a little retail therapy at any of Chandler’s shopping centers.

You’ll enjoy the cool comfort of such indoor shopping centers as Chandler Fashion Center, the area’s regional, upscale and family friendly mall. With new store highlights including The Art of Shaving, Francesca’s Collection, LUSH and Vera Bradley, you’re sure to get some cool finds.

Cool Family Fun Events

Summer Splash 16rev.jpgMore water-related fun is on tap Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Downtown’s Chandler’s Summer Splash.

Bring the family to check out all things H2O.  Kids will marvel at the inflatable water attractions that are the main draw. Don’t forget the sunscreen, and make sure to head downtown to enjoy live entertainment, tasty food and more.

The Independence Day celebration at Chandler’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular is sure to be a festive celebration.

Held every year at Tumbleweed Park, it features live music, a free kids’ carnival and assorted water and interactive amusements.

Cool New Culinary Experiences

Vacation is the perfect time to escape your dining routine and try new things. And in Chandler, it’s easy to expand your horizons by experiencing the local culinary scene.

Visitors enjoy a world of flavor. Chefs create cuisines that incorporate globally inspired flavors, homemade local favorites and everything in between. Nationally recognized favorites are always nearby, too. With hundreds of restaurants, there are enough choices to delight any palate.

For a spectacular summer evening, make dinner plans at one of Downtown Chandler’s more than 20 award-winning restaurants, featuring everything from Italian to sushi and American to Thai.

Save room for a cool and tasty treat from Paletas Betty. (So you are in-the-know, a paleta is a seasonal, handmade ice and cream pop.) Chandler’s own Paletas Betty was recently voted critic’s pick for 2012 by AZCentral.com, the online version of The Arizona Republic.

The vibrant local culinary scene also offers a broad choice of kid-friendly cuisines alongside sophisticated menus for adults.

SushiEyeinMotionrev.jpgMany choices will entertain the kids as well. Sushi plates sail past on the conveyor belt at Sushi Eye in Motion. Behind the glass at China Magic Noodle, chefs pull apart a ball of dough, transforming it into noodle strings.

Who knew the Valley of the Sun could be so much fun and so affordable?

Find summer values at Chandler’s accommodations, and bring the kids for a memorable vacation in Chandler.
