Patterson Observatory
Southeastern Arizona is renowned for its clear, dark skies - skies free of obscuring haze and light pollution - optimal conditions for astronomical viewing. The Patterson Observatory is a significant contribution to community resources. The Observatory will serve as a site for public lectures given by professional astronomers from the Kitt Peak and Steward Observatories and astronomers visiting the research facilities on Mt. Graham. It will serve as a meeting place for the Huachuca Astronomy Club of southeastern Arizona, a local non-profit organization that promotes interest in astronomy and related sciences through education, fellowship and by conducting public observing sessions. It will be a science field trip destination for local school children to observe solar phenomena using specialized filters.
